For the first time in about 5 years, the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware will not have a empty chair among its full-time members. Richard Andrews was confirmed this week by the U.S. Senate for a position on the federal bench in Delaware. This will be the first time since 2006, when Judge Kent Jordan was elevated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, that the State of Delaware’s sole federal District Court will have all 4 chairs filled for its U.S. district judges. We also recently benefitted from the installation of The Honorable Christopher Burke as the Court’s second federal magistrate judge. The Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware has been at full strength, with 6 bankrutpcy judges, for several years. Delaware has the rare distinction of having a U.S. District Court with more bankruptcy judges than U.S. district judges.
